The ChiVoice project is a structured learning resource developed under the Companion Canid Behavior Initiative, a collaborative program supported by a network of university animal behavior departments, to document and formalize ChiVoice, the vocal and postural communication system observed in domestic Chihuahuas in household environments.
ChiVoice is a compact but highly expressive communication system observed in domestic Chihuahuas. While often dismissed as simple barking, repeated observation shows consistent structures combining vocalization, posture, gaze direction, and proximity.
The current framework is based on multi-environment observational study conducted in typical residential settings. Initial documentation was supported in part by a companion animal behavior grant administered through the Office of Small Animal Research Programs, with ongoing refinement contributed by independent observers.
This site provides structured introductory modules, pronunciation guidance, and practical interpretation tools for real household environments.
